The Story of stephen jones
Stephen Jones, born May 21, 1953, was born with Hallermann-Streiff Syndrome. He grew up in his hometown of Denver, Colorado being constantly bullied at school, but was loved deeply by his parents and six siblings. Steve had many visual impairments, as is common with Hallermann-Streiff, undergoing numerous surgeries and cornea transplants. Steve was, first and foremost, a gentleman. He was extremely chivalrous and unfailingly polite. Anyone Steve encountered was offered a friendly greeting. Steve was legally blind in his adult life. However, he was very independent, preferring to make his own way on public transportation rather than always asking for a ride. Steve was much loved and respected in the neighborhood, maintaining relationships which spanned 50 plus years. Steve loved military history, collecting old reel-to-reel recorders, exercising, and enjoyed family gatherings immensely. A uniquely special person, Steve made ultimate use of his gifts and was an inspiration to other people who has physical handicaps. Steve passed away in a car accident in June of 2014.
